Top Ten Male Harry Potter Characters

I have always loved magic harnessed by wizards and witches within the fantasy universe. I thought it would be interesting to express my thoughts of each character, especially after completely watching all the eight films and reading all seven novels, thus in the form of a top ten list.

10. Ignotus Peverell is featured in all the novels within the Harry Potter series written by J.K Rowling, but he shines the most in the seventh book, Harry Potter and The Deathly HallowsIgnotus is also featured in the films adapting the series (2001-2017) voiced by John Hurt. Ignotus is the youngest Peverell brother and creator of the invisibility cloak that was passed down the male side of the Potter family until it arrived in the hands of Harry. Ignotus and his brothers were able to outsmart death and were rewarded for their creativity.

Unlike his siblings.  Ignotus knew that death would claim them so he asked for a cloak to hide under. Death removed his cloak and offered it allowing Ignotus to hide from death until he reached an old age after having a life and family. He removed the cloak before offering his hand to death in a form of friendship.

9. Augustus Rookwood is featured in all the novels within the Harry Potter series written by J.K Rowling, but he shines the most in the fifth book, Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix. Augustus is also featured in the films adapting the series (2001-2017) voiced by Richard Trinder.

Augustus is head of the Department of Mysteries and Leader of the Unspeakable. Leader of the Unspeakable are shown as wizards cloaked in purple cloaks and never speak a word. They oversee prophecies and the time turners until they were destroyed in the fifth book, Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix. They are trusted to know all styles of magic including new spells and potions that are newly created yet are deemed harmful to the public.

8. Remus Lupin is featured in all the novels within the Harry Potter series written by J.K Rowling, but he shines the most in the third book, Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban. Folios is also featured in the films adapting the series (2001-2017) voiced by Jamie Glover. Lupin was a member of the Maraduers along with James Potter, Sirus Black, and Peter Petergrew. At the age of five, he was bitten by Fenir Greyback being forced to turn into a werewolf every full moon as revenge against his father, who was creating laws against werewolves.

He attended school by hiding in the shrieking shack as the entrance was covered up by the tree known as the Whomping Willow. He was Harry’s Defense Against the Dark Arts professor during Harry’s third year but was forced to leave when word got out about his furry little problem. During the war he goes undercover with a pack of werewolves. He marries Tonk and they have a son nickname Teddy before both are killed in the battle at Hogwarts.

7. Folios Flitwick is featured in all the novels within the Harry Potter series written by J.K Rowling, but he shines the most in the sixth book, Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows. Folios is also featured in the films adapting the series (2001-2017) voiced by Warwick Davis. He is a half-goblin and the charms professor at Hogwarts.

He is the head of Ravenclaw and is known for his intelligence and loyalty to his students. Before becoming a professor, he was a Master of Charms and a Master Duelist. He was a Champion Duelist known as being in the number one spot before he decided to retire and pass his knowledge onto the younger generations.

6. Kingsley Shackleboltis featured in all the novels within the Harry Potter series written by J.K Rowling, but he shines the most in the fifth book, Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix. Kingsley is also featured in the films adapting the series (2001-2017) voiced by George Harris. A well-known auror or police officer that works for the Ministry of Magic.

He became a member of the Order of the Phoenix feeding them information about the Ministry of Magic and misleads the manhunt on Sirus Black. After the battke of Hogwarts and the dark lord defeat Kingsley became the Minister of Magic until he was succeeded by Hermone Granger.

5. Draco Malfoy is featured in all the novels within the Harry Potter series written by J.K Rowling, but he shines the most in the sixth book, Harry Potter and The Half-Blooded Prince. Draco is also featured in the films adapting the series (2001-2017) voiced by Tom Felton. He is the arch rival of the golden boy Harry Potter. Sorted into the house of Slytherin, Draco spends his school years trying to outshine Potter and get the golden trio, Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermone Granger, in trouble.

He follows his father’s footsteps into becoming a death eater by taking a mission to kill Dumbledore, only for his godfather Severus Snape to complete the act knowing that the headmaster dies from a cursed ring. After graduating he marries Astoria Greengrass and works on reforming his family’s name.

4. George Weasley is featured in all the novels within the Harry Potter series written by J.K Rowling, but he shines the most in the fifth book, Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix. George Weasley is also featured in the films adapting the series (2001-2017) voiced by Oliver Phelps.

One half of the famous Weasley twins. After graduating from Hogwarts Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes shop was open with the prize money given to them by Harry Potter. Harry won the Triwizard Tournament during his fourth year of school. He enjoys planning out pranks with his twin and is the one who comes up with the idea behind their new pranks. During the war they created a new line of products to protect people from death eaters and dementors.

3. Fred Weasley is featured in all the novels within the Harry Potter series written by J.K Rowling, but he shines the most in the third book, Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban. Fred Weasley is also featured in the films adapting the series (2001-2017) voiced by Fred Tatasciore. The other half of the twins who became famous for their pranks during their studies at Hogwarts.

Following the lead of their idols the marauders they pulled pranks using the Marauders Map to stay out of trouble. Their pranks were harmless made to put everyone in the school in a good mood ensuring that no one felt bullied or attacked by them. Everyone was a fair target including their own house. Fred is the older twin since he was the first born and is killed at the battle of Hogwarts from an explosion.

2. Neville Longbottom is featured in all the novels within the Harry Potter series written by J.K Rowling, but he shines the most in the seventh book, Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows. Neville is also featured in the films adapting the series (2001-2017) voiced by Matthew Lewis. In the first novel we are introduced to a shy boy searching for his pet toad Trever on the train who has a natural ability and knowledge of herbology.

Neville assumes he will be placed in Hufflepuff, due to being known as the house of losers yet instead was placed in Gryffindor. It’s revealed that his parents Frank and Alice were tormented into insanity because it was unclear if the prophecy was about himself or Harry Potter. He was bullied by Draco and other wizards who thought he was magically weak.

His family abused him, going to the extreme of drowning and throwing him out of a third story window by his uncle Angus, just to see if he was a squid or a person born without magic who had magical parents. He proves his worth in the end by helping with protecting Hogwarts and slaying Nagani with the sword of Gryffindor who was the familiar of the dark lord and Tom Riddles’ final anchor to the real world.

1. Severus Snape is featured in all the novels within the Harry Potter series written by J.K Rowling, but he shines the most in the first book, Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone. Snape is also featured in the films adapting the series (2001-2017) voiced by Alan Rickman. He is known for being the youngest potion master in Great Britain and the youngest headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He was a triple agent working for both Voldermort and Dumbledore not revealing his true alliance until his death.

Severus is the head of the house of Slytherin and created numerous potions and spells including the wolfbane potion and a cutting curse. Many refer to him as the greasy git or dungeon bat since most students see him as a cruel teacher only caring about his snakes. During his teaching career there was never a fatal accident in his class despite how dangerous potions can be.

Severus acts like a true Slytherin keeping his emotions to himself and using his cunning to reach his end goals. He would prefer working on potion experiments but also wish to ensure no harm came to the children. He hates Harry Potter because he looks and acts like his father James yet has risked his life several times protecting the boy.
