Loki: God of Mischief

There are many who believe that the myths and legends created by ancient civilizations were more than just stories. That these legends were recording or warning of what the Gods were known for. Loki is a God that is well-known in myths being reintroduced to the media in the most recent films for Marvel.

The Trickster

The adopted son of Odin. The King of the Gods, Loki is the God of Mischief and lies in Norse mythology. His true parents were the frost giant Farthauti and the giantess Laufey. He is the father of Hel The Goddess of death, The Nonserious Wolf Ferrir, and The World Serpent Jörmungandr.

He also gave birth to an eight-legged stallion named Sleipnir after shifting into a horse. Loki is a shapeshifter and can change his form and uses magic to create illusions. Until Raganok, Loki is held prisoner in a cave for acting against the Gods being tormented by drops of venom falling on him that belongs to his son.

The Silver Screen

When the Marvel films Avengers introduced Thor in the first film it made sense that Loki would be making an appearance as well. Loki wanted revenge against his brother and take the throne of Asgard. Throughout the series, Loki has been both the villain and hero trying to destroy his brother and take over the world. However, there are times when the trickster aids Thor when their home is on the verge of destruction.

Personal thoughts

I have always been fascinated with this trickster God who uses cunning and magic to ensure he is the victor in battle. On the surface, Loki is self-centered trying to gain more power than the other Gods using lies and pranks to achieve his goals. Yet underneath he cares about his children and protects them to the best of his ability.

Furthermore, it’s clear that Loki is a God of Illusions ensuring that his true form is never discovered. No one knows where his true allegiance lies given his cunning nature though its clear he will put his life on the line to ensure his home is safe. Many believe that Loki only cares about himself and causing chaos making him an outsider among the other Gods. Yet it’s through his chaotic nature that he can test his fellow Gods subconsciously helping them prepare for Raganok.

Now, shush, I’m trying to read,
