The Shrek series created by DreamWorks is a popular series of films that take a unique twist on faerytales. Scared Shrekless is a Halloween film created for the spooky holiday. The film shows how Shrek and his friends spend Halloween when the family of ogres aren’t busy scaring humans.

Battle of The Stories

On the night of Halloween Shrek and the boys decide to have a contest in the ruins of Lord Farqquaad’s castle. Once there, they each take turns telling a scary story. Each person is trying to scare the others away knowing that the one left standing will be crowned the scariest person in the forest.

Cute or Scary

The film is a cute children’s take on a group of friends sitting around the campfire telling ghost stories. The concept is the same trying to tell a story so scary that it will haunt the others dreams. I would rate this film a six out of ten. It’s a good film for younger children and a good way to ease them into the idea of horror movies, yet the movie is sillier than scary. There are parts of the film that lack sense but makes up for it with the use of classic characters from the series.

Scared Shrekless is a fun film that can be enjoyed with the younger members of your family helping everyone to get into the holiday spirit. The stories are a bit silly and a play on classic horror stories making them non-spooky for its viewers. It’s a unique take on horror tales yet seems to fit with the rest of the Shrek series.

Now, shush, I’m trying to read
