Sleeping With Sirens – A Rock Band Review

Music is a positive constant in my life. Whenever I feel stressed, saddened, or enraged I find myself using rock music as a constructive outlet. My favorite song from Sleeping With Sirens is from their 2011 album, Let’s Cheers To This and is called If You Can’t Hang. So, Let’s do this! Sleeping With Sirens, a Rock Band Review!

About Trust

I am a trusting person, but once my trust is broken it takes a very long time for the person to redeem themselves in my eyes. Even at that point, our relationship may never be the same. Granted, the song is about a bad breakup caused by infidelity, yet the feelings can be applied to those who have crossed you.

The band rose to fame with their song, If I’m James Dean You’re Audrey Hepburn, from their first album, With Ears To See and Eyes To Hear, released in 2010. After being signed with Warner Bros. Records, lead singer, Kellin Quinn came up with the name of their band, Sleeping With Sirens.

Quinn stated in several interviews, that he has always been obsessed with Greek mythology. The vision for the band had been to produce songs that would hypnotize their audience, reminding her of sirens.

Road To Fame

Their second album Let’s Cheers To This, released in 2011, continued their success and led to a tour in the United States. Soon after, the band released their third album, Feel in 2012. The album reached the Billboard popularity the same year.

Following their rise in popularity, the band released an acoustic EP, If You Were A Movie, This Would Be Your Soundtrack later that year. To celebrate the success of Feel, the band went on a tour called, “Feel This Tour”, featuring similar hardcore rock bands such as, Memphis May Fire, Breathe Carolina, Issues, and Our Last Night.

In 2014, the band headlined a world tour alongside Pierce the Veil, Beartooth.  A fourth album followed the tour titled, Madness, which was released in 2015. Through Epitaph Records, yet the band resigned with Warner Bros Records with the release of their fifth album, Gossip in 2017.

My Struggles

When listening to Sleeping With Sirens’ latest album, Gossip from 2017, the themes featured in their singles prior to the album’s release was hopeful. My favorite song from the album, Legends, speaks of being a hero despite the struggles we’ve endured in our lives.

Similar themes are expressed from the song, One Man Army, which tells the story of holding your head up high and not giving in to other people’s opinions. It also says that we must stand up for our beliefs even if we are alone in the fight.

Burned it!
