For every arcade fanatic Wreck-It Ralph and Ralph Breaks the Internet focuses on characters from vintage arcade games such as Sugar Rush Racing and Fix-it Felix are not games that exist outside of the movies franchise but are insured by Nintendo’s Donley King and Capcom’s Need for Speed Racing. There are references to real games throughout the film such as Pacman, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, and Sonic the Hedgehog.
The Story Continues
Taking place six years after saving the arcade from Turbo’s vengeance, the Sugar Rush arcade cabinet has broken, forcing Ralph and Vanellope to travel to the Internet via the newly-installed Wi-Fi router in Litwak’s Arcade to retrieve the piece capable of saving the game.
Characters in Ralph Breaks the Internet
Ralph (John C. Reilly) is happy with the repetitive routine of working his game and ending the day with his best friend. He sees himself as Vanellope’s hero and best friend. Afraid that she’ll lose her game, he embarks on a scary adventure with her across the internet.
Vanellope (Sarah Silverman) is the sarcastic, adventurous princess that sees her game as boring and predicable unaware of the challenge she seeks until she enters the online game Slaughterhouse Racing. She experiences the arecoline of never known what is around the next corner.
Shank (Gal Gadot) is the beautiful and wise racer from Slaughterhouse Racing and is impressed with Vanellope’s skillful driving. She is the beautiful and wise racer from Slaughterhouse Racing and is impressed with Vanellope encouragement to pursue her dreams.
Yesss (Taraji P. Henson) is the runner of Buzztube, a streaming video service online that is like Youtube and Buzzfeed. She is a caring and optimistic business woman. Seeing the potential of Ralph’s videos copying trending topics she agrees to help him earn the money they need for the part to fix Sugar Rush Racing.
I would rate the film an eight out of ten, given the mass assortment of characters ranging from new characters introduced through other games and the thirteen Disney princesses including Snow White, Aurora, Belle, Ariel, Moana, Tiana, Cinderella, Else, Anna, Merida, Mulan, Rapunzel, and Jasmine.
There isn’t much music despite it being a film about video game characters. There are many pop-culture references that makes the movie seem overcrowded with the overall theme even though it is used for jokes. It was sweet watching the development of Ralph and Vanellope’s friendship and facing very readable obstacles in their visit to the internet..
