The Nickelavee

Gothic Bite Magazine

Hello fair travels and welcome to my side of fantasy and whim. I always look for things that fascinate me and for this article I am featuring a lesser known mythical creature.

While there are many creatures in the magical and mythical categories that have been more and more well-known throughout the years, there are many who are not as well known.

Not Just Unicorn and Dragons

For example, Unicorn and Dragons are almost instantly recognizable in their forms while you may not think of a Selkie or a Joint Snake. Those are two examples of creatures we do not see in most of the fantasy representations.

For this feature, I would like to introduce you to a creature that while some may know it, this was one I was not as familiar with and would love to share some of what I have learned.

Seance in Time

Gothic Bite Magazine

Before the spirit board, after the time death was taboo to speak about, there was a period where mediums took over the boredom of certain curious families and they called it: SEANCES.

Before Ghost Hunters!

Due to YouTube and other means of entertainment found on the internet the curiosity surrounding spirit boards surfaced and led to videos where unnerving adventure happens.

However, before the creation of these traditional board games, communication with the spirit world happened in a different matter. Séances took place in homes and parlors conducted by those born with the ability to communicate with the other side i.e. mediums.

What Does Séance Mean?

When people hear the word séance, they think of a medium sitting at a table holding hands with those seeking messages from the other side. The room is in low lighting, and the medium is either possessed by a spirit or delivers messages…

ANIMORPH SERIES – The In-Depth Review

Gothic Bite Magazine

Just reading the back jacket of this book caused when I was younger. Like Goosebumps, Animorphs was another series I adored when I was younger.

I read all the way to the ending of the series, as well as all the extra side stories and stories that were from different points of view from major players in the series

The Memories

I remember the excitement s itself. It was the first that I had seen a series writer go so far into a world, granted later in my childhood I would discover another such writer who would give me the world of Narnia but that in itself is another article for another day.

For this series review, we will stay in the world of the Animorphs, created by K.A. Applegate. Katherine Alice Applegate is an American young adult and children’s fiction writer, best known as the author of…

Apex Legends Video Game Review

Gothic Bite Magazine

This article I’m doing a review of a game that just released on PS4, Xbox One and PC, I’m talking about Apex Legends.

Developing Apex Legends

Developed in a media void, RespawnEntertainment, the developers behind the massively successful Titanfall series have joined forces with the gaming mogul EA to create a free to play Battle Royale game.

Apex Legends
Apex Legends

Let’s jump into this one and see what’s what. First off, yes, it’s free to play. Yes, there are microtransactions, but all of them are cosmetic, nothing that affects the players’ experience, which makes it all the better. You do earn currency in-game to unlock the stuff you see that you may want, or the odd character they locked you out of previously.

So, taking a cue from the other Battle Royale giants, this one is free and available for download now on either of your consoles…

Gothic Bite Magazine

This month is dedicated to Ghosts here at Gothic Bite Magazine and so this is a tarot spread inspired by the theme of this month.

Reaching Out

In our world and next spirits are actively reaching out to loved ones and those with the rare abilities to sense them.

Spirits are the souls of the dead trapped between the world of the living and the realm of the dead. There are others called spirit guides that assist humans in times of stress or when they are seeking out guidance.

Lucky Number 13

Gothic Bite Magazine

The number 13 is at the center of many superstitious beliefs and fears. Then again, when paired alongside Friday it only becomes worst.

The name of the fear of the number thirteen is called triskaidekaphobia. For some people Friday the 13th is quite unlucky while for others it is a sign of luck. Which side are you on?

The number thirteen is a mysterious source in many subjects. Just like you would see in religion, the history or even mathematically, the number thirteen is just as mysterious.

In the Christian and Catholic religion, the number thirteen links to the sorrows of Jesus Christ. This fact is because the number united the apostles making them thirteen overall.
